Aarushi Murder Case: Talwars to Petition Against Case Closure

Legal News India: The parents of Aarushi Talwar, the 14-year-old who was killed in May 2008, will petition against the CBI’s closure report of their daughter’s murder case. Nupur Talwar, the victim’s mother, said that she was shocked by the news of the case closure report. “We underwent all tests so that there is no scope for any speculation and despite all this, filing of the closure report by CBI is shocking”, said Nupur Talwar.

Rebbecca John, the Talwars’ lawyer, said, “This is not the last and final, as far as we are concerned…They (parents) are being left in no position to even ask for the actual killer of their dead daughter being brought to book because of the manner in which their rights were compromised.”

A forensic expert accused the CBI for allegedly destroying crucial evidence. Dr J Gowrishankar, Director, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, Hyderabad, said, “They (CBI) had sent us some blood-stained bed sheets from the bed of the victims. Using that and the blood of the parents of Aarushi, we were able to establish that the bloodstains were indeed that of the girl.” “We were also sent some slides of the vaginal swabs taken from the victim to check whether there was sexual assault. What came out was surprising — they were not of the victim,” elaborated Dr Gowrishankar.
