Accident Death Claim : Lawyer is asking for 20% as fees

Dear Sir,
One of my friend had an accident and died in an accident at Bidadi, Bangalore. And the case got judgement for paying an amount 1000000/- to the insurance company. Lawyer intially asked for 5% as commission, now he is asking for 20-22%. I dont know the procedure, is it neccesary to pay 22%?.

There is no procedure prescribed with regard to fee of advocates in particular in MACT ( Motor Accident Cases) You must bargain before accepting the case. Is entire expenditure born out by advocate or born by you same is not known. You should request advocate to reduce the fee. Except you have no option.
If any lawyer takes fees and others court expenses then there is no question of commission,it is vary from lawyer to lawyer,you should settle the matter with your lawyer.------------------------Minansu Bhadra,Advocate.
not only in death case , in car accident , death case , and any insurance claim if case in court , your lawyer ask you minimum 20% of total value , shame on our lawyers , how normal people can sustain this ?????? govt. has do something for this
look if before accepting the case lawyer agreed to take 5% and now he is changing that , that is beyond the ethics of profession..
if you feel harassment then you can file a complaint before bar council regarding that lawyer............
because once the fees is decided how can he changed that after accepting the case.
not necessary to pay 22%..
you are required to pay only that amount that was decided before accepting the case............
you can hire other lawyer.....if you don't want complication,,, just say to your lawyer that we are not satisfied with your services and you want to change the lawyer,,, but if you do that you have to pay partial amount to him by the service already performed by him...
