Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhumi Verdict To Be Delivered On Sept 24

India Legal News: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court is scheduled to deliver the verdict on the title of the disputed shrine in Ayodhya on September 24.

The civil case involving the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhumi dispute has been on for 60 years. The date for pronouncing the judgement was decided by a Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court, comprising Justices SU Khan, Sudhir Agarwal and DV Sharma.

The three issues to be addressed by the court are whether there a temple existed at the site prior to 1538, whether the Babri committee suit filed in 1961 is barred by limitation and whether the title was gained through adverse possession.

Former BJP leader Kalyan Singh is all out to prove his religious fervour, saying (repeatedly) at a press conference in Lucknow, “Nothing but a Ram temple will be constructed at the disputed site in Ayodhya.”

In contrast, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has requested community members across India to refrain from “provocative celebration or demonstration” following the Ayodhya verdict.
