Blue Line Buses Will Go Off The Roads From Dec 14

Indian Legal News: Some 2,400 privately owned bus services that ply on the roads of Delhi will be phased out, says Delhi Government transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely. The deadline is December 14 for the Blue Line buses, which are currently in bad shape, with most of them being over 5 years old. These buses ply on the New Delhi municipality area.

The buses were out of motion during the Common Wealth Games following HC directives. Challenging the government’s decision to ply on the roads, the bus operators’ union moved the Delhi HC order. The case is pending.

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) currently owns over 6,500 buses which includes nearly 4,000 low floor buses (AC and non-AC combined). The transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said, "We will get 200 more low floor buses in two-three weeks' time.” In a bid to modernize Delhi in the lines of Paris or London, the State transport department had previously shared plans to introduce the Monorail (45 km) and Light Rail Transit in Delhi soon.
