Building And Construction Laws Flouted In The Capital
Indian Law News: Following the collapse of the building in New Delhi which killed 69 people, the focus is now on the blatant subversion of the building and construction laws in the country's capital. People are agitated over the issue that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officers, who allowed illegal construction to mushroom across the state, are now conducting surveys, declaring the constructions illegal and evicting homeowners. In Laxmi Nagar itself, the MCD found 38 illegal structures which the officials claimed were unsafe to live in.
The irony remains in the fact that most of these evicted were driven out of their respective villages due to poverty. They have struggled hard to own a home in Delhi, and in the process they were forced to bribe the official. Now, the very same officials are evicting them.
Its collective responsibility of Builder and the officials who looked otherside of law while dealing with permissions. The Govt must mkae them pay for alternative houses and also compensation apart from prosecutting them for criminal offences. This has been on for many years but no action is taken. At least now Govt must ask them provide for alternaitve homes even if some of them have retired officials.
