Connecticut Passes Bill Restricting LPO

Legal News India: The US state of Connecticut has passed a bill to discourage law firms from outsourcing their work overseas. This could have an adverse effect on India’s legal process outsourcing (LPO) sector. Those in the sector are also worried about other US states introducing similar laws.

connecticut-sealThe Connecticut Law Tribune stated that the bill proposed by Patricia Dillon, the Connecticut state representative, mentioned that “unlicensed” overseas workforce engaged in the drafting, reviewing and analyzing legal documents of Connecticut clients could be charged for unauthorized law practice.

Sanjay Kamlani, the co-CEO of Pangea3 (a LPO firm), said the Bill aims to end the flow of sophisticated legal jobs to India.
