Foreign Law Firms Practice For Non-Litigious Matters Being Discussed

 India Legal News: Discussions for amendments to the Section 29 of the Advocate Act 1961 is underway. The Union Law Ministry has told the Madras HC on Tuesday that foreign law firms practicing in India for non-litigious matters at reciprocatory basis with foreign nations is being considered, an affidavit coming from the ministry stated. The matter will be discussed with the BCI (Bar Council of India). The centre has previously mentioned that barring law firms for practising in India will be against national interest. read here 

Previously,  a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) was filed by Advocate AK Balaji, where he sought the centre to take action against 32 foreign firms/advocates ‘illegally’ working in India. Read more
