Government Enacts Law for Unorganized Workers

India Legal News: The Centre has passed the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008 with the aim of ensuring the social security and welfare of unorganized workers. The Act encompasses even the domestic workers.

The Government has established a Task Force to formulate policies for regulatory mechanism and social security measures for domestic workers. The Task Force, in its first report, recommended the extention of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) to domestic workers.
