LIG Readers Contribute Three Highly Effective Tips on Animal Rights
We believe that our readers are terrific. And no, this isn’t flattery. What? You don’t believe us? Read on why we think our readers on LIG are totally great resources. While making comments and initiating discussions on LIG, we believe that you can help us to create solid content in a more people-oriented way. Scroll through some of our top commentators on the Facebook fan page such as Manoor Sachdev, Chandan Das, Aruna Binu, and Samir Minocha.
To reflect their powerful chain of thoughts, we have compiled three highly effective lessons that pet owners can take away from this discussion on animal rights from three of our popular LIG readers. Are we ready to take off with the lessons, then? Put on your seat belts, get ready to soar!
Lesson 1 on Animal Rights: Some People who train Pets Torture Them For Making Money – Vikrant Sharma
Take a look at our article titled Animals Rights: Use of Animals for Entertainment. It was particularly touching how a legal article like this paved the way for diverse reactions from our readers. One of our avid readers, Vikrant Sharma, shared his experience that pet owners should consider as a lesson for them too. Vikrant pulled out his puppy out of training when he realized on the first day that the trainer was beating the puppy. How cruel is that trainer? Yes, imagine the plight and helplessness of the poor puppy. The message from Vikrant is an important one for all pet owners: trust the right trainer for your pet.
Lesson 2 on Animal Rights: People Should Put Themselves in the Place of These Animals – Mayumi Mohan
A teen’s perspective on the article was evident from the way she wrote about it. From Mayumi Mohan, a Delhi-based teenager, we got the teens’ perspective on animal rights and we are glad that she spoke from the heart, when she stated:
People should put themselves in the place of the animals. No one like to get tortured and beaten. At least we can speak up and say that we are in pain but the poor creatures’ voices of pain and suffering are lost.
Lesson 3 on Animal Rights: It is not the Dog that has to be Trained but the Owner – Manoor Sachdev
According to Manoor, it is the owner who has to be trained to live with a dog “because it is a huge responsibility, bigger than rearing a child.” Manoor asks the following questions to pet owners-
- Tell me when one picks up a pet... aren't we abusing him right at that moment?
- Does one ever consider what sized pet is best for them? & will it adjust in the place they live? For example, a medium size and above dog cannot live in an apartment.
Manoor shared his experience about how he prepared himself first before getting a pet. He researched on breeds, breeders, trainers and vets before coming to the conclusion that it is important for him to adjust with the pet and not the other way round.
At LIG, we honor our readers because we too learn new perspectives from some of you every day. This week, we hope these three highly effective tips from our LIG readers prepares you to take the right initiatives for the welfare of your loved pets.
WOW!!! And thank you LIG!
I would also like to share the following for the benefit of the pet owners on how to chooses a right trainer for their pet;
a. Never blindly trust the referees which in most cases are the vet's or other pet owners;
b. Checks the trainers credentials once you have invited him, if possible ask for their learning certificates or try talking to their teachers, always notice the body language;
c. Ask for their ways of training your pet; (- they will never give you step by step process... it will all be scattered all over)
d. A genuine trainer will never want to train your pet without you being present with them; (simple reason - the pet is to be controlled by you for their entire life, if you are not present at the training how will you bond with your pet on commands & how will your pet trust you when you give them the commands)
e. Training of any breed does not take more than a month (unless some special tricks are to be taught & for that you will need a specialized trainer), so any one who says 3months or more is fooling you robbing you of your hard earned money;
f. Check on their equipments & cleanliness of it & the trainer;
g. Never hire the trainer on the first day, keep them on trial for a week, if your pet will be happy to go out with the trainer (without him pulling your pet, chaining him etc)on the 2nd or 3rd meeting... you can give the trainer a shot, but you will have to keep an eye on the eagerness of your pet to go out with him every time;
h. Never let the trainer or as a pet owner never use a choke chain on your pet & only use a simple collar which will have the same effect on the pet as a choke chain. (they will tell you, that you can control you pet better only if he wears a choke chain, which is false & i assure you if it is a genuine trainer they will teach you to control you pet just by your own voice, nothing else is required. I can control any breed of dog on my voice command.)
These are the few things you can keep in mind before hiring a trainer.
No one will tell you these facts till to pay up, but because i have learn't this i would like to share it with one & all for happy pets & betterment of the society.
Please note: Your pet should be trained after they are 3months old & before 8months old for best results. A older pet might take longer to be trained than mentioned above.
All the best to all!
Also,
I second Mayumi & i mean the same when i say “because it is a huge responsibility, bigger than rearing a child.†A child can speak in illness, pain, hunger, sadness etc... but these little pets can't. So please only take the responsibility when you are prepared.
All the best!
It's difficult to thank you, Manoor, because it will sound repetitive like a broken sound record.
