Lokpal Bill To be Introduced In August: Union Govt

 India Legal News: The Indian government plans to introduce the Lokpal Bill during the Monsoon session of the Parliament (starting 1st August and not from July). At a Press Con held today P Chidambaram, the Union Home Minister announced the news. He added that the government was serious in passing the Graft bill as early as possible.

In another statement from the Prime Minister, who last week agreed to come under the ambit of the Lokpal Bill, voiced similar tunes, but with conditions. He said, "We are also committed to bringing the bill before Parliament in the coming Monsoon Session. However, it is important that such an institutional arrangement enjoys the support of as large a section of people as possible and that there is the widest possible consensus regarding the bill."
