MoEF Team on 3-Day Visit to Lavasa

Legal News India: An 11-member technical committee from the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) reached the Lavasa township site to assess the Rs. 3,000-crore project. The construction of the township has been held up due to the lack of environmental clearance. The team is on a 3-day trip to the Pune district to make a detailed report on the project.

The MoEF team, led by the central expert appraisal committee (EAC) chairman, Naresh Dayal is supposed to “look into all the clearances, check the height of the project, the infrastructure created, and talk to stakeholders, including protesting villagers, to ascertain the truth.” “Their recommendations will dictate the final MoEF order”, said a MoEF official.

Medha Patkar, head of the National Alliance for People’s Movement, also reached Lavasa unexpectedly and demanded a fair hearing of the case.
