New Book Calls Gandhi a Homosexual, Guj Govt Bans It

India Legal News: Narendra Modi and the Centre are on the same page here. The central government is considering a ban on Joseph Lelyveld’s controversial book - Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and his struggle with India. The author was ex-New York Times editor. Government of Gujarat has banned the book and the Maharastra government is considering the same. The Union Law Minister Mr. Veerappa Moily expressed his dissent,. He said, “The government has taken a serious note of the book that has made a disgraceful statement on the national leader. It is demeaning for the nation.”

Mahatma Gandhi, according to Joseph Lelyveld, was homosexual and a racist. The statements were made based on Gandhi’s relationship with German-Jewish architect Hermann Kallenbach. Gandhi was living with his amateur body builder friend Kallenbach in Johannesburg for 2 years.

The WSJ book review reports that Gandhi was, “a sexual weirdo, a political incompetent, a fanatical faddist, implacably racist, and a ceaseless self-promoter, professing his love for mankind as a concept while actually despising people as individuals".

The British Daily Mail headline said "Gandhi 'left his wife to live with a male lover' new book claims". On the other hand, the Daily Telegraph book review section said that Gandhi had "held racist views against South African blacks."
