Legal News India: Ex-SC judge, Shivaraj V Patil, will investigate the alleged irregularities in the 2G spectrum scam, starting from 2001, declared telecom minister Kapil Sibal on December 9. He further elaborated that the one-man committee will “examine the appropriateness of procedures by the DoT in the issuance of licenses and allocation of spectrum during the period 2001-2009....”

The telecom minster’s announcement was in response to the opposition parties' demand for a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum allocation that the CAG said caused Rs 1.76 lakh crore loss to India’s exchequer.
