Sexual Harassment at Workplace Bill, 2010 Passed

 Indian Legal News: Women workers and employees can breathe easy because their right to lead a dignified life has a legal stamp now. The Union Cabinet has approved the Protection of Women against Sexual Harassment at Workplace Bill, 2010 in the parliament today. The bill intends to provide a legal protection for women against sexual harassment at the workplace, both in public and private sectors. 

 
Women would now be able to register a formal complain against various types of harassment such as
 
• physical contact 
• seeking or demanding sexual favours 
• sexual remarks 
• showing pornography 
• demeaning remarks
 
The Sexual Harassment at Workplace Bill has a penalty provision which means that the employers will be fined if found not complying and is applicable in all sectors, organized and unorganized. To read more on the bill read here.

Yes, most violence and harrassment were conmitted by men.
