should a self affidavit be notary certified

sir we were asked to submit an affidavit stating that my firm is a proprietary firm and i am the sole proprietor of the firm, along with a tender we submitted to southern railway. I did attach an affidavit in a 100 rupee stamp paper stating the same along with the tender.But now i hear that i should get my affidavit notarized for it to be valid.

Should my affidavit be notarized for it to be valid?
