Constitution of India: SC on Quota Law
Wed, 07/21/2010 - 17:59 — LIG ReporterIn July 2010, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of continuing the quota law in Tamil Nadu for another year. The quota law provides for 69 percent reservation in jobs and education institutes for Schedule Tribes, Schedule Castes, Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes. The ruling followed the dismissal of the writ petition filed by the Voice, a Consumer Care Council. The petition challenged the validity of the quota law and its introduction in the Constitution of India.
