India legal news reports were full of different opinions about the Bharat Bandh that was called forth by the Opposition parties, namely the NDA and the Left on 5^th July, 2010. The Bandh was brought forth as a protest against price rise of fuel and other goods.  However, did the bandh really mirror the worries and problems of the common man? Can’t say, because all we know is that the bandh interrupted daily life and caused violence and unrest in many states. However, the Opposition-ruled states claim that it was a success and that it conveyed a strong message to the government at the Centre while the Congress party called it a flop.
