Independence Day History Series: The Entry of Jinnah into Indian Politics

The life of Mohammed Ali Jinnah has been discussed, debated and dissected by eminent historians, political thinkers and interested readers. Even today, the topic arouses mixed reactions from academicians, politicians and the masses. Undoubtedly, Jinnah is one of the world’s most mysterious and controversial leaders. He is known as the man who altered the history of British India in the most unexpected way at the most unexpected time. What is most interesting is that neither India nor Pakistan seems keen to acknowledge his significant contribution during the period of Independence. Jinnah is generally perceived as a shadowy villain whose hunger for power divided one country into two nations. Perhaps it is time to evaluate and take an objective view of what may have been the actual genesis of Jinnah.
