Crime against women

Women related laws and issues continue to shock us.  News reports are getting worse each day.  A couple who decide to run away and get married are electrocuted by the girl's parents. A girl who tries to relieve herself on the side of a lonely road is molested by a drunken policeman who promises to pay her well if she complies.

Did you know that out of 70 rapes cases, only one is reported? Many rape victims do not report due to the fear of losing their social status in the Indian society, which looks at victims as miserable beings. This restricts many rape victims from getting justice and compensation for their loss of dignity.

Crime against women in Cambodia is on the rise, which is evident from police reports and data gathered by several Non-government Organizations. However, due to inefficiency in the crime monitoring system, the true extent of the situation is yet to be acknowledged. What is sadder is the fact that the rape victims are being denied justice on a large extent. Loopholes in the judiciary system enable perpetrators to escape punishment without any efforts.
