India Legal News: Maharashtra to Enact Law against Defamatory Writings

As per India legal news, the Maharashtra Government had imposed a ban on the controversial book called 'Shivaji - The Hindu King in Muslim India.' The book was based on the life of the legendary hero, Shivaji, and it was written by an American scholar, James Laine. The State Government claimed that some portions of the book were misleading, derogatory and promoted enmity among social groups. Also, the Government took legal action against the author and publishers, in accordance with Indian law.
