The National Green Tribunal Bill, 2009, was introduced in the Indian Parliament on July 29, 2009 by Honorable Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh. The bill provides for the establishment of a Green Tribunal, which will offer effective and fast redressal of cases related to environmental protection and conservation of natural resources and forests. The bill, however, has faced criticism from different quarters, owing to its loopholes and limitations.
