Indian Law: Tamil as Language in Courts

A large section of lawyers in Tamil Nadu have been demanding the introduction of Tamil as the official court language in the Madras High Court. The Tamil Nadu state government has also created a proposal but this is now pending with the Union Ministry. The Tamil Nadu minister, Thangam Thennarasu has requested the Prime Minister, Union Law Minister and Supreme Court Chief Justice to consider the proposal.
