Insurance services

As per India legal news reports in August 2010, public sector insurance companies declared that cashless medical insurance services will be extended to emergency and trauma cases. M. Ramadoss, the chairman of the New India Assurance Company, announced this during a meeting, with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), in New Delhi. He stated that a patient who requires emergency treatment can avail the cashless services, in all TPA-empanelled hospitals.  

Claiming insurance can often become a very strenuous and prolonged task. In fact, insurers tend to find ways to reduce the claim amount or avoid making a settlement altogether but consumer protection laws seek to protect consumers from such deficiencies in insurance services. The Consumer Protection Act, to cater to such fraudulent practices, administers separate clauses for insurance consumer complaints, covering a diverse range of products, from general insurance to vehicle insurance.
