These visits follow a set of rules and regulations in India as it is governed by the Prison Act, 1894 to provide humanitarian aid to inmates isolated from the society. Prison visits in India are, however, subject to certain specific codes of conduct that must be observed by the visitor diligently. In fact, some prisons hand out a copy of such rules to visitors prior to their appointment.
